Video: How to Test iPhone Battery with a Multimeter

Tuesday, May 8, 2018 by The Ontrack Experts

Ontrack is long known for its expertise in recovering data from hard disk drives, SSDs, RAID, and NAS systems as well as high-end server and storage systems from brands like EMC/Dell, HP and many others.

But we are also capable of recovering data from smart phones, tablets, and other mobile devices through our own dedicated mobile data recovery team, consisting of highly specialized engineers who know the tricks when it comes to recovering data (and thus repairing) from mobile devices.

In many cases iPhones – as well as other smart phones – have problems regarding their battery.

Sometimes the battery gets low really fast, is completely broken, or is reaching the end of its life cycle. But how can one be sure what the status of the battery is really like?

One of our smartphone engineers shows in this video the steps necessary to find out the exact state of an iPhone battery and what equipment is used by the team. Additionally, a lot of general information about smart phone battery life is shared here by Martin from Ontrack.

Even if this video shows examples of what one can do to check the battery status, we strongly recommend that without the proper experience, knowledge, and equipment no normal user should try that at home by themselves.

Better consult a specialized phone repair shop to do this job for you. In case you have a related data loss with your phone, you can also contact Ontrack to do both the mobile data recovery as well as to check whether your battery has to be changed or not.

This video is the first of a series of many which are related to smart phone data loss, repair and technical information right of the Ontrack mobile recovery laboratory. Stay tuned! There is more to come!
