Meet Country Manager, Jyri
How long have you worked at Ontrack?
23 years in November.
What do you think makes Ontrack different from its competitors?
We offer a variety of pricing and service options to cater to our customers’ needs. We have state-of-the-art clean rooms, and our experts are some of the best in the business. All of this, with friendly service, makes us a unique data recovery company.
Where do you see data recovery going in the future?
As storage technology becomes more sophisticated, significant investment in research and development will be needed. I think the industry will become increasingly challenging for service providers, who don’t have the necessary research and development resources to keep up with the changes. These types of companies will either be acquired by bigger ones or will disappear from the market.
What trends do you see in the market?
The number of devices in households that store data continues to grow. The files in a home, especially ones owned by Millennials and Generation Z, are fragmented across many different devices and platforms, including social media and cloud services.
As a result, there is a need to recover data from many different sources. Data recovery as a service becomes commonplace.
Data recovery insurance and prepaid service plans are also gaining ground in the consumer market to respond to growing needs.
Why do you think Ontrack is such a great place to work?
My friends and clients have asked the same question several times. I have no simple answer to this; it is all down to the feeling I have inside. Our corporate culture promotes team spirit, improvement and creativity. I have been lucky to have inspiring supervisors, colleagues, and subordinates. The work community as a whole is inspiring, and the working atmosphere is excellent.
Charity, in some form, has been vital to me since childhood. We have saved a lot of companies from bankruptcy and many priceless photo collections for individuals. Our goal is to make unhappy customers happy. Our company, in a natural way, combines business with doing good.
What’s your favourite film?
I love the original black and white Tarzan movies. I like the balance between nature, animals, romance, a hero story, and good always overcoming evil.
What’s your favourite food?
My favourite food is my gran’s traditional cabbage rolls. These involve cabbage stuffed with minced meat, rice and egg. Served with cook potatoes – delicious!
What are your hobbies?
I am a football father, so I spend a lot of my time playing chauffeur, cheering on my children’s teams, and participating in administrative functions for the club. I also am I massive motorcycling fan, but after 35 years I have swapped two-wheel for four wheels – feels much sturdier!
