Ontrack Data Recovery launches Verifile™

Online reports establish new standard for data recovery evaluation assessment

MINNEAPOLIS – June 14, 2005 – Losing data can be a traumatic experience for both businesses and home users, making the decision to go forward with data recovery a difficult one. In order to help simplify the process and enhance their customers’ experience, Ontrack Data Recovery introduces Ontrack® VeriFile™ Online Data Reports. Unique to the data recovery industry, VeriFile establishes a new standard for pre-service evaluations by allowing customers to view a complete listing of their recoverable and non-recoverable files in an organized, easily searchable format. By means of a small browser-based application, the new VeriFile reports offer customers the ability to make a more informed decision about their data recovery.

“VeriFile is a significant accomplishment because it gives customers an unprecedented level of information about the state of their data before committing to recovery,” said Jim Reinert, senior director of Software and Services for Ontrack Data Recovery. “With so many companies advertising ‘free evaluations’ that don’t include a timely or full evaluation report, it’s more important than ever to work with an experienced company that can offer advantages like VeriFile.”

For an average investment of $100, Ontrack VeriFile provides an easy-to-read report format that provides the customer with details related to the initial assessment of the data loss, quickly identifying for the customer the quality of the recovery available. This gives the customer all of the information necessary to determine if important files can be recovered before committing to the service fee and proceeding with an actual recovery. VeriFile advantages include:

  • Complete listing of recoverable files in an easily searchable format
  • Comprehensive results typically delivered in 24-48 hours
  • Individual file assessment, reporting a recovery status for each file as good, repairable or partial
  • Familiar Windows Explorer-like interface for viewing specific file and directory information
  • Quick and easy advanced filtering options to drill down and locate a specific file or view groups of files based on file type, date range, etc.
  • Ability for Help Desk Managers, Directors of IT, Third Party Service organizations, or Resellers to create customized recovery status reports.

VeriFile is compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x or greater and is available for most data recovery evaluations. Once installed/downloaded from the Ontrack website, VeriFile runs locally on the customer’s system and requires no Internet connection, ensuring the privacy of the customer’s data.
