Top 5 questions about Ontrack EasyRecovery data recovery software

If you have gone searching for this post, you may have suffered a data loss – and you are right now looking for information that could help you to have your data back. If this applies to you then don’t fret: Here we answer the top 5 questions we hear about Ontrack EasyRecovery data recovery software.

I have read that the data recovery software sometimes is not able to recover the 100% of the data, how can I know that I will recover the file that I am looking for?

It is true that sometimes it, along with all other types of data recovery software, is not able to recover all of your data. This is largely due to the type of failure that your hard drive may have sustained. If the failure is a physical failure, then STOP, switch off the device and contact Kroll Ontrack or another reputable data recovery company.

If you are sure that your failure is not a physical media one, Kroll Ontrack facilitates your decision: just download the free trial version and scan the disk to know which files you can recover. If you like the results, then just buy the software to save the files, if you don’t find what you want, it is ok. In any case, you know what files you can recover without spending a penny.

How long it takes to recover all my files?

This depends, there are many factors that accelerate or otherwise slow down the scanning: drive capacity, amount of data, how data is deleted, recovery methods required, condition of the media etc. All of these factors can affect the speed at which the software scans the disk drive.

Don’t forget that Ontrack EasyRecovery allows you to monitor the state of the media, and can tell you if your drive is likely to suffer impending physical failure. If does happen, then call Kroll Ontrack to speak with one of our data recovery consultants.

Is it easy to use?

Yes, Ontrack EasyRecovery has been designed for anyone. Its intuitive wizard-style interface allows even the most basic computer user to use the software without have headache!

How much it is?

There are three versions of the software: Home (£69), Professional (£129), and Enterprise (£499). If you use your computer for personal reasons, i.e. photos, music, school/university assignments, we recommend you the Ontrack Easy Recovery Home version, it is really easy to use and apart from recovery your data, it can help you monitor the condition of your hard drive and perform more secure data deletion.

If you recovery needs are more specific or you need the software for business purpose, compare our Professional and Enterprise versions to see what version is best for your needs.

There are free data recovery software packages out there, why should I buy for Ontrack EasyRecovery?

This is certainly the big question. Why spend £69 for data recovery software while there are other software packages that promise the same for a lower price or for free?

If you purchase Ontrack EasyRecovery, you can be secure in the knowledge that our technical support team is there for your ‘just in case’ and ‘what about this’ questions.

You have the licence for a year, this means that if for example after three months of buying the software you change your computer you only have to call us, follow our instructions and you will have the software in your computer for the following nine months. In addition, you can perform data recoveries from tablets, iPods, SSD cards, smartphones and other external devices.

Ontrack EasyRecovery is by Kroll Ontrack, the company that performed the world’s first commercial data recovery in 1987 and now performs 40,000 successful data recovery jobs each year – so you can rest assured that you are using the software package which was created by the company with the most skills and experience in the market. After all, with data recovery you seldom get a second chance – so why risk your memories, entertainment and critical business data by using a free software package.

      Hi Carlos,

Sorry to hear about your data loss.

Yes, if you have a RAID system at home and you have suffered a data loss that can be resolved with software then you will most likely need Ontrack EasyRecovery Enterprise as this is the only version of the software that works with RAID systems.

FYI, the software packages are named to reflect the needs of the most likely customer of each version. You can find more info about our prices here – http://www.krollontrack.co.uk/software/easyrecovery/.

What I would suggest is to download the demo version of Ontrack EasyRecovery Enterprise and install it to a different, working drive. Then perform a scan to see what data is recoverable. You won’t have access to the data unless you then purchase the software, but it will show you what data is recoverable for free.

Best of luck and let me know if you need any further assistance.

Where the data will store after it says the formatted drive recovered successfully?
    It’s urgent. Please.

      Hi Sanjeev,

The data you recover using Ontrack EasyRecovery can be stored anywhere you choose, as long as you have access to this location on the machine you’re running the software from. We’d advise however not to save the data to the same location that you’re recovering it from.

      Hope this helps,
