Wearable electronics growth forecast

Businesses planning to utilise big data to better inform their decision making in the coming years are set to receive a significant influx of new consumer data through the rollout of wearable electronics in the years ahead.

IT industry analyst Gartner has predicted 68.1 million units of wearable electronics will be shipped in 2015 – down slightly from 70.2 million units this year – before rising to 91.3 million units in 2016.

Angela McIntyre, research director at Gartner, commented: “Consumers will be able to integrate the data from most wearables into a single account where their data can be analysed using cognisant computing to provide useful insights to wearers.”

Companies wishing to leverage long-term benefits from the use of big data in the coming years should therefore also invest heavily in smarter data recovery. This will enable firms to draw on information from wearable devices even if they suffer a breach in security or other crisis.

Safeguarding consumer data will ensure these insights can be gained on a longer term basis by analysing consumer trends over time.

It is wise to choose a data recovery company who has a track record in recovering from the type of data loss you have experienced.
