Ontrack debuts Disk Manager for Windows Software

Ontrack® Data International, Inc. (Nasdaq: ONDI) today announced the release of its Disk Manager® for Windows software, the industry's first hard disk installation utility for the Windows operating system. Disk Manager for Windows software lets users maximize the effectiveness, performance and capacity of new and secondary hard disk drives with an easy-to-understand graphical user interface.

Advanced Windows SupportDesigned for Windows and Windows 95 systems, Disk Manager for Windows software is the first Windows-specific version of Ontrack Disk Manager software.

Since its introduction in 1985, Disk Manager software has become the world's leading hard disk installation utility, helping more than 33 million users gain maximum capacity and performance from their hard disk drives.

"We are very excited to provide Windows users with a seamless, easy-to-operate hard drive installation utility," says John Pence, President of Ontrack. "The release of Ontrack Disk Manager for Windows software is testimony not only to this installation utility's continued ability to adapt, but also to its continued ability to meet the demands of users and equipment manufacturers alike."

Support for Variable Cluster SizesDisk Manager for Windows software provides support for Windows 95/FAT 32, an advanced File Allocation Table technology. With FAT 32 support, Disk Manager for Windows software is able to handle variable cluster sizes, resulting in the more efficient use of data storage space and greater storage capacity. Disk Manager for Windows software also lets users create partitions larger than two gigabytes.

New UtilitiesIn order to facilitate the installation of new or additional drives into a system, Disk Manager for Windows software provides users with a collection of program utilities. The FileCopy utility lets users automatically copy files from their old drives to their new drives, while the CD Update utility helps users remap CD-ROM drive letters after installing their new hard disk drives. Disk Manager for Windows software also includes a utility that overcomes BIOS limitations by replacing restricted or unsupported drive parameters. These program utilities are backed by graphical jumper settings and diagrams that help users easily set up their hard drives, and context-sensitive help screens that assist users throughout the drive installation process.
