Kroll Ontrack unveils new trial preparation tool

Ontrack Prepview enables attorneys to more easily share and organize case information

Minneapolis – Feb. 2, 2009 – Kroll Ontrack®, the industry's largest provider of paper and electronic discovery, computer forensics, ESI consulting, and courtroom and presentation services, today announced the launch of Ontrack® Prepview, a new Web-based trial preparation platform that helps attorneys collaborate and strategically organize all case information in one central location. Ontrack Prepview was designed in close collaboration with trial technology experts at TrialGraphix®, which was acquired by Kroll Ontrack in September 2007. Ontrack Prepview's first module, Transcript Manager, specifically provides users with a robust suite of online features, which allows users to load, classify, review and annotate deposition transcripts, significantly driving down the time associated with deposition review and the total cost of litigation.

"We understand that the deposition review process can be overwhelming and time consuming, especially with multiple legal professionals, in different global locations, working on the same document sets," said Erica Holborn, vice president of trial services for Kroll Ontrack and former president of TrialGraphix. "The functionality and robust features in Ontrack Prepview's Transcript Manager provides trial teams with all the resources needed to easily organize and review deposition transcripts and corresponding video for trial. The ability to seamlessly coordinate deposition review across the globe is increasingly more critical as international litigation is growing."

Through the use of robust and easy-to-use features within Ontrack Prepview's Transcript Manager, legal teams can expect significant time and cost savings throughout the deposition review process. Specifically, Ontrack Prepview's Transcript Manager:

  • Allows for fast, reliable access to streaming video synchronization and easy management and annotation of multiple depositions. Because Ontrack Prepview is 100 percent Web-based, there is no software installation or data storage is required.
  • Enables users to create and share work product with trial members, experts and clients without having to update, e-mail or sync up to a case database.
  • Allows reviewers to find critical testimonies via advanced searching without leaving their search results.
  • Enables users to build and share custom lists of key designations while utilizing flexible reporting tools to create, save and print out designations in a preferred format.
  • Utilizes a unique per case pricing structure rather than per user basis, enabling any member of the legal team to participate in the review process without increasing project costs. New users have access to all case materials by simply joining the case.

Ontrack Prepview is currently available in the United States. In addition to Ontrack Prepview's current features and capabilities, Kroll Ontrack plans to launch future modules, including a Graphics Manager and Exhibit Manager to assist legal teams to more efficiently prepare for various aspects of trial.
