An international financial services company was able to comply with the supervisory authority's request for information.
The customer collected the 27 backup tapes from the desired research period and these were handled by Ontrack at a 24/7 emergency service level. These tapes contained a mix of Veritas and VEEAM. For the VEEAM environment, the VBK containers were restored and the relevant voice recording could be quickly retrieved using the self-developed VBK and VMware tools.
The old backup tapes contained a wide variety of tape formats; DLT, SDLT, LTO 3, 4, 5, 6, and different types of backup software; Netbackup, TSM, AS400, Veritas, MFT, VEEAM. Ontrack completed a total overview with the self-developed tape inspector and decided to have some of the tapes destroyed in a certified manner.
This project is a great example of the breadth and depth of Ontrack's backup tape services. For the customer, the relevant voice recordings were retrieved very quickly and within the agreed-upon timeframe. This meant that the client could perform the eDiscovery and comply with the regulator's request.
In the follow-up process, a complete overview was carried out of on a selection of the old legacy backups, a wide range of tape formats, and types of backup software.
